Santiago Moraes

Santiago Moraes is a musician and songwriter. More than a portfolio site, he wanted a place where people could actually play his songs: lyrics with chords, organized by album, and easy to use with a guitar in your hands.

The heart of the site is the songbook. Santiago types the lyrics with the chords the way he always has, and the theme picks them up, places them above each line and draws diagrams for the chords used in the song. From the same page you can transpose to another key, hide the chords to read only the lyrics, or let the song scroll on its own while you play.

There’s also a page for each album with its tracklist, upcoming shows pulled in automatically from Bandsintown, YouTube videos that don’t load until you hit play, and an options panel so Santiago can change colors, copy and the announcement bar without touching code.

It’s a WordPress theme built from scratch, no page builders, with a full rebrand halfway through. It deploys itself from GitHub and the code is open source.
